Do you know?

sorenbarrett

How much anger will buy an ounce of love

How many vultures to redeem the life of a dove

How many sunbeams to pay for a drop of rain

How much forgiveness to quench the thirst of pain

Where on a sphere begin the bends

Where amongst thorns have you hidden your friends

Where did you hide the tongue of your inner voice

Where in birth and death is there a choice

When will we learn to save a drowning fly

When not to let the last ember die

When will we have enough to give to the poor

When will peace be worth more than gold, to end war

Such beauty in every line, wisdom and knowledge and a lot of reflection, I'd like to believe in everything you say, as I'm a pretty good human, spreading love is in my opinion the best way to go. Doesn't mean it will help any war but a smile goes a long way. We really should all reach deep to find the empathy and compassion we are all capable of having, those who are simply lost in evil, well they will be the ones to go down the drain in history. 🌹

          • sorenbarrett

Thank you Teddy for you most kind and supportive words they mean a great deal. As for evil don't believe in it, I look at it as a disease, something gone amiss with the natural process. Diseases are cured best by a good healthy immune system. Society is far from healthy.

            • Teddy.15

100 % agreed incredibly true, when I mean Evil, I too mean lost. The simple fact that society no longer knows how to behave is a sad fact. 🌹

Very well spoken! Love can solve more problems than the ego can create.

                        • Friendship

Your poem appears to be a deliberate and intricate composition, inviting us to ponder the numerous unresolved thoughts and ongoing questions it presents. You delve into profound inquiries regarding value and morality within human relationships and societal structures. Human behavior in relationships can be unpredictable, involving a delicate balance of give-and-take. However, some individuals exert control over our thoughts and actions, while others seek to destroy a person without justification, driven by self-serving interests and desires. Ultimately, your poem serves as a reflection on the complexities of human emotions and societal values, prompting the reader to reevaluate the true significance of their cherished aspirations.

                          • sorenbarrett

Clear observations of meaning well thought out and summarized all so true. Beneath them all the reason we go to war not just with others but ourself and those we love. The prices we are unwilling to pay to keep this from happening. Thank you so much for your most astute observations and comments on this piece.

Very wise words soren. There are people of high-profile powers that should pay special attention to these words. But because they are who they are, they don't see the values that the rest of us do.

I believe a lot of people know but they choose either to ignore it (its easier that way & requires no real effort) .. or they are misguided and or delusional and think they know better .. compassion however, is priceless & sadly an increasingly rare human characteristic ..

                                        • sorenbarrett

Thank you Neville your comment is always most appreciated and so true, compassion is not a growing element.
