Don't Call This A Come-Back

Tom Dylan

Notice of absence from Tom Dylan
Sorry if there is a delay in responses. Sometimes life gets in the way. As John Lennon said, life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans.

I don’t know if you’ve heard

but I’m picking up that pen

and letting the words drip like honey,

I’m writing poems once again.

As I climb back on the saddle,

I find poetry is like riding a bike,

you’ve just got to peddle like f***

and try with all your might.

I’m writing poetry once again,

I’m getting everything off my chest,

but this isn’t some kind of come-back

because the truth is I never left.

Most apt analogy… like muscle memory, the flow begins to loosen up and smoothly go. πŸ™πŸ»πŸ•Š

As a poet who's had his share of hiatuses, I so get this. Well done, Tom! πŸ¦β€β¬›πŸ–€

Glad to hear it. We all take a hiatus once in a while and a needed rest allows the muse to recover. So glad you are back although you never left.

I was wondering where you'd gone. I guess sometimes it's good to take a "break" and let things ferment. And not be too greedy!
A funny rhyme, Tom. Loved it! Now, how to "try with all our might" and yet be effortless at the same time? (Is that a koan?!)

Thanks a lot for your comments, mate. Really appreciated. And yeah, to try with all our might and be effortless and spontaneous, that is the challenge. Cheers, Tom.

Oh you! There's a subtle humor woven through these inauspicious stanzas which leaves a mirthful smile on the lips in concluding. Charming and winsomely rendered with gorgeous imagery and a plucky, determined poignancy haunting it. Like dear Shakespeare, you're so charmingly loveable. Thank you so very much for sharing!
