Notice of absence from Tom Dylan
Sorry if there is a delay in responses. Sometimes life gets in the way. As John Lennon said, life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans.

I will sip a drop of the pure,
And raise a glass of porter,
Slainte Mhath.
Some of my friends are going along
To parties in bright green hats
And silly glasses.
I stay home and listen to the songs
My grandfather taught me,
The Rocky Road to Dublin,
The Auld Triangle,
A family funeral comes to mind.
My grandfather who I’m named for,
Taught me so much about Ireland,
About that little bit of Heaven,
And about life too.
He taught me to count in Gaelic,
And these wonderful phrases and sayings,
And how to say goodbye.
As the song comes to an end,
I wipe the tears from my eyes.

A poem of heritage and its importance. My heritage also has a line to Ireland but is much more distant. A fun read on the appropriate day of the year.
Thanks a lot for your comments, Soren. I do enjoy celebrating St Patrick's Day but it is a rather a personal thing too. 🙂 Cheers, Tom.
Good write T. Happy St P's Day! It's too much ink to spell out names every time. lol. Though I heard of one who actually did not his 'i's' to save ink. Doh!

I fell in love as soon as I read this pretty number capably giving a winsomely realistic perspective on the annual holiday. So deliciously rendered with gorgeous imagery and a tantalizing poignancy. Thank you so very, very much for sharing.
