Tom Dylan

Notice of absence from Tom Dylan
Sorry if there is a delay in responses. Sometimes life gets in the way. As John Lennon said, life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans.

I retrieve the boxes of books from the loft,

unpacking with all the care and attention

of an archaeological dig,

I blow the dust off the volumes and flick through the pages

as though to wake the poets from their slumber.

I sit cross-legged on the carpet

surrounded by books, by words,

immersed in the splendour of poetry,

the words dancing before my eyes

to a tune only they and I can hear.

I feel the warmth of a fire-side

from centuries past,

I read in the glow of flickering flames,

flames long turned to ash

that still burn and glow hot.

Completely agree. I do like a dusty bookshop and yellow-paged paperback books. Thanks a lot for your comments, as always, my friend.

Likewise! I spend or used to spend much quality time like that πŸ™πŸ»πŸ•ŠοΈ

Embers of memories still glow beneath the ashes. Warmth still alive from a past fire will reignite into new flames. A great metaphor.

Spot on, Soren. Love the idea of new fires being started by those old flames. Thanks for your comments.. Really appreciated.

A spark from the past ignites new fires and long may they burn, enjoyed the read

I so get and relate with this. I love diving into a good box of old books! I love the smell (though, perhaps not the after effects with my allergies), the feel...wonderful write, Tom! πŸŒΉπŸ‘

Never ignore the knock of poetry upon your door. If it knocks, something good will always come of it. πŸ˜‰πŸ‘
