Fight or flight is life's plight but I sit like stone
With a foe's arrival survival lies in whether cover's blown
Frozen in fright I won't fight just hope they won't see
In the garage of my camouflage sit and won't flee
Adrenaline surges thoughts it purges, it's action or freeze
Speed explodes, violence unloads into nothingness squeeze
Viable for some, others it doesn't become as a defense
A shark in flight or a butterfly bite makes no sense
Some call me a coward disempowered but I think not
With one life to give I'd rather live, survival is what I got
In evolution living is absolution, no way is better than another
Sit, fight or flight, none is right, any as effective as the other

You are very welcome
This flows so beautifully, the rhyming, the internal rhyming. Beautiful. As for me, I used to think I would have no courage when I was younger but it turns out I am much more meat mittens than winged shoes. Still, I have also found myself sitting like stone...and you're right, regardless of the way chosen, you either survive or you don't! Part luck and part how good you are at your choice. Well done on this, Soren. A fave for sure! ๐น๐

You are welcome, my friend!
Superb work.
Thank you, Thomas
Great poem, beautifully written and I love the rhyming. Somehow (don't ask why, the mind is a curious thing) the lyrics of the song 'the gambler' by Kenny Rogers popped into my head when reading. "Know when to hold, know when to fold...."
