Unfulfilled love

Neilton

My tears glistened dazzlingly on the floor

While you were leaving me forlorn

Pacing anxiously and remorsefully

To your "carefully" embroidered "home"

Pondering how you could ever forget this unfulfilled love

"Should I have chased after a broken soul?"

I wondered while musing over our days on the shore

But you had already disemboweled

My all this time meticulously protected bones

With your so-called smoothened claws

Is it hard for you to understand

That I erase our memories

As if they are

Some kind of devils line-up?

Or do I have to show scars

That can be seen

even from where you so-rattled relax?

But my mind harks back to the days of yore

On the very first night of my favorite trist

When you got on one knee

And offered to shield me

Eternally ...

Words out of my ken

I admit ...

So don't go and tease

my frequent visits down memory lane

When you held my hand by the sea

And we talked for hours about future dreams

Pushing me gently to become a better me

And vowing to call me yours

Since I was the love you've always been looking for

Daily I'm haunted by our laughs echoing under the starry sky

With the moon shining right before your dazzling brown eyes

And my heart pounding louder and louder as you kissed me softly on the one side

And daily I fight

with the soldiers of the night

To remind my self

That you took me out of my nest

To protect me from the rest

With good intentions on your mind

But you weren't strong enough

And I fell

Deserting my fragile feathers with a bloody mark

And

if I can utter those last words with my mouth

I would say with all my morals crumbling down

"I wish our souls could interlink one last time "

I wish my eyes have never met yours that night"

But as the writer of my story

Repeatedly quotes

To obliterate my worries

And fill the creation of my void

"It's never too late to bounce back

And take your little life to your hands

For you can not live a life in the dark

Under the shadow of a puzzled man

Who couldn't water your blooming heart

No more than few months!

You need to create your own happy lark

And find your other half!"

  • Comment from author about the poem: I wrote this poem for my sister to console her since she is going through a lot at the moment ! To be honest it was really hard to write it from the perspective of my sister and convey exactly what she felt but I did my best

Writing from another perspective is great practice in understanding more than knowing but feeling and the two are far different. A lovely write that's feelings came through. How some young like newly potted plants dies while others live. Who's to say why and blame never brings them back. Loved the poem

Lovely and evocative, rendered to effect with excellent imagery and a painfully haunting poignancy. Thank you for sharing.
