WIP (Work In Progress)

Tom Dylan

Notice of absence from Tom Dylan
Sorry if there is a delay in responses. Sometimes life gets in the way. As John Lennon said, life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans.

For the uninitiated, WIP stands for

Work In Progress, it is the project

a writer is currently working on.

As I delve deeper into the

craft and art of writing

stories and poems,

studying seminal works

and setting out for the foothills

of the mountains the greats

have ascended,

it occurs to me that my WIP,

my work in progress

is something more,

more than this chapter

or that verse,

that the plot-twist

is happening right now

and in my own life,

that the work in progress

is me.

Indeed it is true and the work poem or novel is you, maybe not directly but indirectly. Lovely

It occurred to me that we are our own work in progress, rather than the current writing project. Thanks so much for your comments as always. Really appreciated.

From the day we are born and everything we do is a work in progress, enjoyed the read

There was a song in the 80's we knew too well, touting that very thing, the beauty of the journey seen through the lens of this genre which spells out more than the artist realizes, ever and anon. What almost none knew is that the work is esteemed far more than the author, by default, since that is forever man's bent. Lovely and charmingly rendered with excellent imagery and a fascinating poignancy. Thank you for sharing.

Yes, I hear writers and poets talk of their work in progress, and it stuck me that, we ourselves are that work. Thanks so much for your comments, Missy. Really appreciated. PS, what was the 80s song you mention?

"He's Still Workin' On Me" [He's Still Working on Me https://g.co/kgs/SQPPMpx] Enjoy. My sorority girls and I put on a skit, I guess it was, with that song too many decades ago.

I don't know that song. I'll have to check it out. πŸ™‚

Wow! Indeed, I have two works in progress, longer pieces that I am not even quite sure what I am going to do with it once I finish. One is a narrative poem that is currently 13 1/3 pages long and 5,767 words. It's almost finished...but yeah. 😳 I cannot even begin to pretend to know how many hours spent working on it. Anyway, this is very true and well expressed my friend. It gets a fave from me. πŸŒΉπŸ‘
