Unknot the not

sorenbarrett

How beautiful is a fragrance never smelled?
Where's the joy when a child is never held?
What's the power of a speech never said?
How great is a poem if never read?
When is there value in a race never run?
Who appreciates a kindness not done?

As the read says what's the point, live your life and not be one of those who say, I wish I had, enjoyed the read

I'm intrigued by your title! Unknot the not!
OMG, this one had me thinking, well done, the word you used in your title has so many different meanings and can be used many different ways, well done, lesson learned for me today, how the words we use can precipitate conflict with others. Your poem's purpose is to ignite profound reflection on the significance of our actions and experiences, inspiring the reader to embrace and live life to the fullest. It serves as a powerful reminder of the transformative importance of expression and connection in illuminating life's intangible aspects. You also illuminate the profound value of experiences and actions that are not realized or expressed, revealing that beauty, joy, power, and kindness radiate their greatest significance when shared, acknowledged, and deeply felt.

Thank you Friendship for your words of encouragement they fall like rain on dry ground and are most appreciated

Powerful, my friend! Amen. I was just saying that to someone...I don't write poetry just for myself. It starts there, of course, but it merely starts there. This applies for all potential...and what a tragedy when one's potential is not met. Well done. Urgent message. A fave from me. 🌹👏

                    • sorenbarrett

Thank you my friend. We look so much for accomplishment but overlook the undone. It is often what we don't do that says more than what we do.

For sure! You are most welcome!

I don't know that I entirely understand the title's relation to the poem, but the message is truly a beautiful and motivating one.

                                  • sorenbarrett

So sorry for the delay in responding to this review Ninja but it got overlooked somehow. The relation of the title is just a stupid play on words unknot or untie uses the proper spelling of the word knot while it would be expected to the same knot for the last word or (untie the knot). By changing it to not it becomes untie the nots or what one does not do. Appreciate the read and the comment

Oh! Thanks for the explanation haha

Enjoyable! You sure do crank ‘em out! Kindness can be a rarity, this site was a war zone a few years ago. I packed my bags and left after three years here as Johnny FN Lawless. This place has returned to a better place.

I remember those days. Sometime one lives in a war zone and watches it rage around them. I see it on other sites as well. War's come and go and I have had a few shots fired my way but never suffered a casualty.

Nicely said! Somehow it brought this line from Nietsche: "You great star! What would your happiness be, had you not those for whom you shine?"

                                        • sorenbarrett

Ah yes I can see the linkage. Thank you so much for your read and comment it is most appreciated

This seems like something that spilled onto the paper. Nicely done!
