On the Road To Insanity.

Poetic Licence

On The Road to Insanity.

After reviewing me and my case files carefully

And making new decisions very deliberately.

A conclusion is that possibly in all probability.

They have all discussed every conceivability

Everyone now appears to agree collectively

Little me could well be on the road to insanity.

The demons talking tormenting inside of me.

Madness is all around I can see it very vividly.

Darkness that stirs the mind almost nightly

Numbed to the crimes of natural insensitivity.

The painful calls drowning in such familiarity.

Voices are not something that is new to me.

Twisting devil thoughts which appear so comfy

The stark craziness is my newfound security.

I no longer have to live in blinkered obscurity.

I have completed my sessions at my therapy.

They manipulate the questions so deceitfully

They always tell me not to act so defensively.

We need to get to the root of all the negativity.

Then work hard to transform it into positivity.

I have to accept some kind of accountability.

As they say after all my life is my responsibility

So, I can live what the therapist calls normality.

They understand with me you get what you see.

No pretence anymore just old hard core honesty.

I admit, it is so true I have created my own fantasy.

That deep inside of me I am always so very happy.

If truth is told nothing could be further from reality.

I know I am a long way down the road to insanity.

No worries, I believe it has always been my destiny.

Is it not more insane to tell a person that they are insane because they are comfortable the way they are? Why do we give the majority the right to label the minority as insane. As Thomas Sazz says mental illness is what we call people that cause us discomfort that there is no law against. The continual use of the same rhyme at the end of each line emphasized the feel of obsession seen in many mental illnesses. Very nicely penned

Ah, but insanity to some is creativity to others. Nicely done Tobani. I enjoyed the meter and the rhyme. But mostly, the encouragement to review my own case files. Thanks for sharing.

Whether tongue-in-cheek or very truth, the none too subtle note of humor lacing this most serious discussion adds flavour. Charmingly rendered with excellent imagery and a seriously haunting poignancy. Thank you for sharing.

Wow, I’m honored, my friend—truly. You didn’t “nick” a thing; this is transformation and a hauntingly beautiful one at that. The title alone, let alone the whole poem, carries such raw energy and honest vulnerability. Again, I am honored and humbled and glad you carried the dialogue forward in this poetic expression.🖤🙏🕯️🦇

Crucified and analyzed. Warriors have the strongest hearts not only after the fire but in the fire. Great thoughts put together with great words

Reminded me a little of NF's rap flows. And old Zen stories, like a wannabe student climbing a mountain to see the teacher, then the teacher proceeds to throw rocks at, punch and kick the poor guy off the mountain. Great work.
