On a sweet June evening,
I sat upon the ground
where woes; were so fleeting,
quashed by joyous sound,
asking who that man was
whose notes could reach the sky
then came friendly answer,
why, that’s old Barr McKay.
Sliding psalms on six string
whilst many did join in,
to form a smile singing;
where the base, was him,
the wisdom of a Wilbury,
could really make you fly,
when your heart was opened
by Mr. Barr McKay.
Thus, let’s all drink a pledge
and keep his song alive,
in such dark times; he did fledge,
both kin and friend; alike,
so, listen on the wind,
deep voice, from up high,
for it will be the one we miss;
thank you, sir; Barr McKay.

- Comment from author about the poem: Another friend of mine has passed away recently, and it came out of the blue for sure. Andrew "Barr" McKay was a great friend, an amazing slide guitarist, and a great guy to be around. He did and awful lot to support local artists from all backgrounds, he never was judgmental to anyone, and he will be sorely missed by both us and his forever; loving family, of which, continue to be good friends to me. The dress code of the funeral was "colours and kilts" of which, I was suited, kilted and booted for. The accompanying picture is of the local legend, and the banner picture resembles his colourful garden, of which was the setting of many a jolly gathering. I hope that you enjoy this homage, rest in peace "Barr", and as always, please do stay safe everyone.
