How odd is odd

sorenbarrett

Sanity the norm, crazy if you don't conform
Insanity by vote outsiders just a sour note
snow flakes in a storm six sides is the norm
differences remote, makes you a scapegoat

Differences you see do they set you free
told that you're ill, for variance there's no pill
in regard to variability it's just a matter of degree
Those unlike us leave a chill but are human still

In all “reality” there is but one race, the Human Race. If we would only learn to love the human, the rest would fall in to place. Nicely done, Soren. Thanks for sharing.

Us and Them is an old game that resurrects every now and again…corporate defence mechanism perhaps?🙏🏻🕊

I was intrigued by the title; once again, your poem undertakes a compelling examination of conformity, individuality, and societal norms, prompting a profound analysis of the concept of 'sanity' as defined by collective societal agreement. It sheds light on how individuals who bravely diverge from the norm are frequently marginalized or labeled as 'insane,' yet, in doing so, exposes the transformative tension between individuality and societal expectations. This thought-provoking subject matter underscores how embracing our differences can yield both liberating freedom and a sense of alienation, urging us to reassess our understanding of what it means to be 'sane.'

I've tried to con-form, but the limitation is unbearable. Great write, Soren.

Indeed. How much difference rattles our bones...and yet, how different are we? In one sense, vastly different. There are entire universes with in people, perhaps multiverses. Yet, in another way, not very different at all. Sometimes we find ourselves having to comply, but I determined a long time ago that I will never conform. I am who I am. Wonderful write, Soren. This one hit home! 🌹👏

Thank you Salvia for your read and observant comment. Yes conformity can be good for society but bad for the individual.
