Tune: St Fulbert
('Ye choirs of new Jerusalem')
Luke 24 v.13-32 parts
***********
Two disciples on a journey
To Emmaus* they be (* about 60 furlongs or 7 1/2 miles from Jerusalem)
The risen Jesus to them neared
And unto them appeared
At first they knew not it as He
Said, How can these things be?
That Jesus of Nazareth, he
Suffered and died, so be
We trusted that it had been He
Who would redeemer be
Of Israel, and three days have passed
Since He did breathe His last
And certain a vision did see
Of angels, they said He
Was alive, some to tomb did go
But of Him was no show
Jesus said then, O foolish, slow
To scriptures believe, know
Are you, and words prophets foretold
Of Christ in days of old
How He would suffer, die, then rise
Be seen before you eyes
Again, and enter His glory
Gain o'er death victory
They recognised Him, He took bread
Christ risen from the dead
Broke it, blessed them, as Passover
Meal they shared before sure
-------
After this they went back the 7 1/2 miles to Jerusalem again,
to tell the others.

Another great Hymn of this time of the year well done Orchi
Thank you SB. I'm aiming for one poem per day if possible - week gone by of Holy Week; and this current week of Easter Week. It's easier for me to post bit later in the day, I find - for now anyway. Nearing 1,000 years for author of hymn and tune name - St Fulbert died about 1028AD.
Well done GPD!
Thank you JM.
I was thinking about taking a long walk this morning. I was going to walk all the way to the road to Emmaus. Then I realized I would have to walk on water and exclaimed, "Jes..." Okay, it's Easter, I'll leave it there! 🤣 At this point, though, I am pretty sure I understand God's humor! 😜 True story, I was almost struck down in a church. Almost. So, not sure if that says God is "almost" fed up with me, or I am almost fully "grounded" in the Lord? (See what I did there? Grounded...⚡️🤷♂️🤣) Okay, this really is nothing but rubbish, and bad rubbish at that...so let me just get on with it...this poem was excellent my friend! I hope you've had a most excellent and Happy Easter! ✝️🌅
Thank you T.
you are most welcome.
Wot a coincidence - my supermarket is 7 i/2 miles away. Provides me with comfort and sustenance. (another irrelevant comment from DD - wonder where he got that idea from?!)
Thank you D. Are you Sir DD NS?
Looked up the rulz - title not transferable, unfortunately. I just go freelance.
Good one Orchi.
Thank you Gold.
