What's in a name

sorenbarrett

Love searched for Completion, catching her in the embrace of Passion
where Yesterday had seen Deception dancing with Charity
She turned her back on Infidelity and returned to Solitude with Compassion
In an orgy she adored Peace, finding Chastity deep inside Diversity

April was into May until June came
and with her Lilly hugged Rose while in Violet
Shakespeare said what's in a name
Bliss remains inviolate

What an amazing poem. All the great states of mind: Love Passion Charity Compassion Peace and Diversity. All woven into the old question What is in a name.I
think just about everything is in these names.Well done

Thank you David this one grew out of a bit of tongue in cheek thought. I appreciate your read and kind words.

I had a friend once, several in fact, during the nascent days of online poetry. We were friends and comrades without the aid of offline acquaintance- hence we grew intimate in our words and essence even as we had masqueraded behind avatars, nom de plume and internet “anonymity.” 🕊🙏🏻

Thank you Cryptic I think you are onto something there. Appreciate the read and comment as always

Wow! This poem is both playful and rich with philosophical reflection—like a modern parable cloaked in wordplay and floral metaphor. And subversive, too! Chastity found in an orgy, Peace adored through hedonistic convergence, and Bliss remaining untouched by it all. Brilliant, Soren. Seriously. You flip norms on their head, challenging those who cling to them. Compassion, peace, and bliss—these cannot be confined by our rigid frameworks. Bravo! 🌹👏 A fave for sure.

Thank you so much my friend this poem began as I reflected on how many women's names were months, and forms of morals It then began to weave together. As of norms I always was a rebel. Appreciate the read and comments

Indeed. Me too! 🤣 Neat how poems blossom from such ponderings. My poem today came from seeing a "wake" of turkey buzzards having a feast. Anywho, you are most welcome, my friend.
