There was a time in my life
that I smashed every single dinner plate
in my loveless kitchen
for the bad love I was receiving
the palpitations of grief
never knowing what I ever did
to deserve such love?
I broke every last plate
and it felt really good
and now?
I'd give anything in the world
to glue those beautiful priceless plates back together
serving up a warm home cooked meal
For the one I love, and who loves me back
see the price for bad love
didn't come cheap
classic handmade plates
don't come cheap
and neither does bad love
It's the most expensive lesson
I've ever had to learn
just to understand my own self-value
and instead of thinking about
what a waste of time and money
I have instead come to learn
that it's the greatest investment
I could have ever made
because, now I know love’s true value
everyone deserves real love
that's simply, unlimited, endless
and without bounds.

All things in life have two sides and it is our choice which side we wish to focus on. A lovely write that makes its point well.
I've seen them both, thank you dearest sorrenbarret 🌹
A fine write, Teddy. You are, absolutely, correct. Jim got a cat I got a dog. Humans are as tricky as a monkey in a mile of grapevine.
Aren't we just, thank you dearest Jerry. 🌹
This poem immediately gave me the image of Kintsugi. A wonderful metaphor for relationships...and yes, even the bad ones can be good if it leads us to realize our own self-worth and empowers us to find true love. Very wise, my friend. A wonderful poem that spoke to me in my current season of life. Brava, Teddy. 🌹👏
I hope that where you are now is on the fixing plates side dearest Tristan.
🌹 Thank you 🌹
Indeed, I am. Though, some days that project is harder than others, it is the project I am undertaking. Here's to emotional Kintsugi! 🍻 You are most welcome, my friend!
Powerful and poignant, sweet Teddy. Excellent work.
Thank you dear Thomas. 🌹
So very true Teddy, love cures so many problems, it is such a pity that love does not rule our world.
Andy
Thank you dear Andy. 🌹
