He’s walking down the aisle
the biggest smile he ever wore
but it is not he
who will say
I do.

A wonderful poem that twists in the middle and is so true. I have two daughters yet in tradition each when married had their boyfriend come and ask permission before becoming engaged. How else will a father get another man to swear honor, fidelity, financial responsibility to his daughter?
Giving her away at the alta, i can feel your pride from here dear sorrenbarret, my father didn't give me such pleasure but it's ok, I'm always in awe when I go to weddings where the father of the bride is beside her beaming. Thank you my dear friend. 🌹
Thanks Teddy Yes I was at the alter but the permission was asked in private many months before.
Yes also in England and in Italy it's a traditional we keep (mostly) ❤️
beautiful
Thank you so much dear nephilim56 🌹
you are most welcome

I didn't get to experience this personally, but I know from my dear friends that it's a marvellous moment. 🌹
I know the feeling well, and captured in your Words.
So very delighted you could feel this dear Kevin, thank you so much. 🌹
Wonderful. As a father, this brief but powerful poem put me in that scene. I can imagine the feeling and yet, I cannot...though, presumably (though not necessarily), one day I will know it. Thanks for this, my friend. A fave. 🌹👏
I hope one day you get to walk your beloved daughter down the aisle and remember this one. I didn't get the opportunity with my own Father, I just walked myself and that was ok too. Thank you dearest Tristan. 🌹
You are most welcome. Aww. Sorry that didn't happen, but yes, that is okay too. I hope so, as well, my friend. 😊
A time honored tradition so beautifully spelt out - it must have moved all the fathers in the group as they remembered that sweet parting
a special moment - a special poem
Thank you so much dear NafisaSB, it surely should be we don't all get to have this moment with our father's but for those who do it must be the best feeling in the world. Thank you so much for coming by. 🌹
yes i agree. in my wedding, it was my father who wept the most [so did I] and now that he is no more i still cherish the moments of happiness he gave us
My father wasn't with me for mine, we just never had that bond. 🌹 So very happy for you.
thank you, and hope you have that sort of bonding with your kids/other members of the family..
