VE Day thoughts

Linking in with VE Day.....

James 4 v.1-4

*********

From where do wars, or conflicts, and fightings among you come from?

Don't they come from your lusts, or desires for pleasure

That war in your members {i.e. within yourselves}?

You lust, and have those desires for pleasure, and have not what you want

You kill, or murder, and desire to have, or covet

And cannot obtain what you want

You fight and war, or battle

Yet you have not, because you ask not {i.e. in prayer}

When you do ask, you don't receive what you want

Because you ask amiss, that you may satisfy it on your lusts, or pleasures

You are as spiritual adulterers and adulteresses

As if married to God and married to the world

Don't you know that friendship with the world is to be at enmity with God?

Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world and its ways

Is, or makes themselves, an enemy of God?

  • Comment from author about the poem: A paraphrase of some Biblical verses, not verbatim, linking with themes of war, peace, etc. A different aspect is those caught up in war, conscripted, etc, who don't want to be there anyway.

This a most wonderful message Orchi falls on deaf ears of a world caught up in pleasure, ease, comfort and entitlement. We grow weaker as we grow older and so does society. Loved this one Orchi you can preach at my church any day. ( Oh yea I forgot I don't go to church)

Speak with truth, Orchi! Amen on this one! An instant fave! This poem captures the prophetic message contained the Bible. I think of I think of Jeremiah, in particular, standing before the royal court proclaiming what a wicked generation they were, how they were deceivers and thieves, how they took advantage of people in the name of God, and did wicked things in God's sight. This poem breathes into that tradition and Pop...aye...Orchi...and I must confess, this is one of my faves of yours. Well done! 🌹👏🥬
