In dazzling light of day
Fate handed me a crushing defeat
Cinders of my aspirations
Went flying in the wind
With an oblique rupture
I watched the Sun bleed into horizon,
With blood of many chroma,
On its way to oblivion
Life and Hope are conjoined twins
Teachers taught me in school
Thick walls reverberated with teaching—
One must live with unshakable beliefs
Self-proclaimed incarnations of God
Chanted in pious voices
"Seek God, surrender unto Thee,
Ask for forgiveness
Pray your slate be cleaned"
Something stirred deep inside
Truth was the blood of life
Searched for it far and wide
Managed only fleeting glimpses
Like mirages under the punishing sky
Lost my voice, lost my mind
Lost my strength to frame a smile.
Been on a hunt for you
One hallowed house to the next -
Where I believed I would find
Your mercy,
Your guidance,
Your comforting touch;
All I could find were empty nests
Searched for your divine abode
At temples, mosques, churches, synagogues.
Found no homes, only palaces
Trying to outshine each other in opulence
In those places, did I find
Being poor was a sin
So many Lords infested those places
Acting like feudal Gentries;
The only thing I couldn't find
I couldn't find Thee
I was taught many things
I was told those were the truths
Did they teach me
How to live through embers of anguish?
Or,
How could I bear the burden of
Never to have known the truth?
I know God,
In my heart I do sense it so strong
You are there somewhere for us
But you were not where they told me
You were
O God in you I believe
From you my faith will never veer
I was born to wander in the wild
Bless me O' God -
Bless me with strength,
Bless me with faith
Never to abandon the search for You
Till the end of my time
Yes, I am a wanderer in space
My mind wanders through the maze of time
Is certainty worthwhile to chase
Or should I embrace incertitude being the essence of life?
Through the fog of uncertainty
The only certainty that I can see -
If You were a Lord like a landed gentry
In You, I will find no solace and peace
God you are my Lord
Not the earthly Lords that I have seen
You are the Lord who derives no pleasure
In putting us in chains
You are the Lord who sets us free
Though, I am not certain of many things
But one has shaken my belief
You guided us to seek wealth of heart
Why in your houses
It is Gold that they seek?

A powerful poem that points a child's finger at the emperor with no cloths. Oh the shame. A fave
As always, your kind words and gestures guide me towards betterment. Thank you
A wonderful write in the search of faith after overcoming many obstacles along the way, very well written and expressed
Thank you very much for the read and for the kind words. Appreciate your support greatly
You are very welcome
Now a search for God (and please no offence) has always seemed to me to be a pretty futile exercise. However if in your search, you produce such poetry then please keep looking and don’t forget to keep me apprised of your findings.
Thank you for stopping by and your encouraging words. My status update - U2 said it much better than I can ever say - \"I Still Haven\'t Found What I\'m Looking For\"
"...men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil--" and, "...seek ye the LORD while He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near--" "...for in Him we live, and move, and have our being, for we are also His offspring--" [see Acts 17; Is. 55:6; Jn 3:19-21, etc.] Beautifully rendered with excellent imagery, this is gorgeous with a resonating, haunting poignancy. Thank you for sharing.
My gratitude for your kindness and support. Deeply appreciate it
Excellent.
Thank you very much for your kindness
