Stood only five foot tall with their back against the wall could best them all
As an oak in a hurricane stands, arms steel bands, grip of a vice in their hands
Worked more than any one, from dawn to setting sun, then they'd only begun
Knee deep in bogs on their back hauling logs, meaner than any junkyard dogs
Could out curse any man tongue of a rusty tin can words the devil would ban
At cards could deal knew how to steal, cooked a chef's saucier meal
Sharp as a razor blade, called a spade a spade could swindle and trade
Could out think and with nary a blink, could any one out smoke or drink
Hard as nails soft as down, sometimes acted the clown, never sported a frown
Grew up wild, with heart tender, nature mild, so gentle with any child
Body and face of Aphrodite, wearing her silk nighty, how I miss her god almighty

Oak stands tall in gale and storm,
No tearing down what’s weather-worn.
The flame still flickers in the night—
A name we whisper, holds us tight.
Ah Cryptic you're waxing poetic today. A poet's wisdom speaks cryptically but with clear eyesight knowing the essence of meaning. Thanks my friend for your read and understanding.
Ah pleasure as always dear Soren 🕊️🙏🏻
A very entertaining read, completely caught out by the ending, before then I was thinking this is how men used to be the past, as a lady it would be quite scary, really enjoyable read

Ah, the strength, comfort, protection, and passion of fighter. She knows what she wants and goes for it. Caught me off gaurd at the end, but I swear, I knew her sister. Enjoyed the read, Soren.

Thank you Andy for your review it is most appreciated
I, too, thought you were poetising about some hard man and then to discover it was a lady by Jove and a famous one at that - Aphrodite. It's great to be caught off guard especially after such a fine and powerful introduction. I was engrossed and then stunned, stunned in a delightful way. How I love a good surprise. A great poem.
Kind regards,
Tony.
Thanks so much for the read Tony it is always appreciated. In actuality it was about a woman I knew very well and not much exaggeration was needed to write it.
