flight ready

arqios

I will not let the weight
of old winds bend
your wings any longer.

You will soar, not for escape,
but for discovery.
We will carve the sky

into new stories,
where no shadow lingers,
and no voice drags you back.

Your flight is not borrowed—
it belongs to you. So,

take-off in fresh winds’ lift.

As I read this Cryptic I again started off on my own path. Old winds to me are the hot air of critics stuck in rigid views and this poem tells me to not heed them to not let them bend my wings or get me down. To soar not to escape relations with others but to be discovered. That a person has the right to be themselves and have their own opinion. A lovely write

Thatโ€™s a better wind that what first came to mind at this time, rather unsavoury stuff. That is so beautifully meditated on. This was a spin off poem on the Icarus-Daedalus theme, so the metaphors are much appreciated ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ•Š

Love this poem and the what you did with Icarus myth. That said, this also reminds me of what I have been self-reflecting on a lot lately. How, for the longest time, I was a professional escape artist. That was then. This is now. I no longer escape. I storm the gates of hell! LOL! In some mystical way, this poem fits into that for me. Thought I would share. Brilliant poem that gets a fave. ๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ‘
