What

sorenbarrett

Walking jungle trails late at night, under a faint blush of moon light
In thick bush crackling leaves, dark shadows move, the mind deceives
Deep in the forest a roaring howl,  approaching slowly, closer turns a growl
Out of ground's mist two glowing eyes, hairs on my neck now arise
Somewhat less than a foot between, no beast of such size this forest has seen
Feet cemented in rejected tracks, braced awaiting expected attacks
Palms so sweaty, creep or' the handle of my sheathed machete
With a blink the green glow dissolves, so easily a problem resolves
Question's answer remains unknown in a ghost that has flown

Thanks for the read. No not really this was something that happened just last week. So figured would use it.

      The trees do not answer,
      the night does not yield.
      It appeared, then vanishedโ€”
not a beast, not a shadow,
      but something else, unseen,
      something heretofore waiting.

Ah I love that Cryptic more poetic than the poem itself and if yours deserves posting on its own. Thanks so much for the read and most of all for that poetic pearl

For now it shall grace its inspiration, right here where it began. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

A stunning visual of the darkness, forests have always given me the creeps, I couldn't tell you why though, darkness turns to light and the moment moves along with the ghost. Super ๐ŸŒน

          • sorenbarrett

Thank you Teddy I so appreciate the read and comment. I love the forest and often go there, though not so often at night. This was based on an occurrence last week when I was out. It is the noises of the forest at night that are most spine tingling like walking through a cornfield at night the rustling.

We are really lucky to be filled of the most beautiful forestry here including the casentino Forrest, they are truly beautiful all year round, I particularly love the winter and autumn for the smells and colours. ๐ŸŒน

Woo how cool to experience this,,The human body gives off energy, so as you walked through the forest, you gave off energy to the earth, which contacts its spirits that live in the forest. A lot of people don't believe in this stuff until they see it with their own eyes, but it's been there for many years - the spirits in the forest. My grandparents taught me that it's nothing to be afraid of; it's startling at times when it happens, but it's the weirdest feeling you experience. The green mist you experience is impossible to describe because it seems so unreal. Green represents healing, growth, and natural spirits; it means your body has a lot of positive energy to contact the spirits. You went into the forest with a lot on your mind, and the earth was healing you.

When eyes glow, it's time to flee, especially so when in a jungle and even more so at night. A brave man you are to have undertaken such an adventure. A high tension verse, cemented with fear before a foreboding green glow and so deftly rendered with poetic flair. Well done, Soren.

All the very best to you,

                        Tony.

Can't as usual work out what your metaphor is this time Soren, but I tell you what, I'm glad I'm secure inside four walls with the door locked.....

Got ya this time Dave one of the few poems that was not written with a metaphor in mind but was something that happened to me the other night as I was out for a night walk through the forested jungle like hills on my property. Thanks for the read and comment my friend

I probably will never know. There are a lot of animals in the forest but none I know that size.

How ominous, and what an adventure!

The darkness shines in this poem my friend. Having slept in the woods many times throughout my life, this one felt home to me. Love it, Soren. Well done, my friend! ๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ‘

Thanks Tristan for your review and your support. Yes have slept in the woods many times as well but never in the jungle. Have walked through them at night though.

You are most welcome. I walked a part of the Appalachian Trail one night. A fun and exhausting evening!
