Notice of absence from Tom Dylan
Sorry if there is a delay in responses. Sometimes life gets in the way. As John Lennon said, life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans.

We’ve got big plans for the Bank Holiday
we’re taking the dog to the beach,
picnic sandwiches
and blankets,
and pork pies
then home to the beer garden,
pints of beer on benches,
summer sun.
The bank holiday Monday arrives
all dish-water skies and drizzle,
my wife points to the storm settling in outside,
we’ll do the beach and the pub another day.
Typical bank holiday weather,
she tuts, before heading to make the tea.
I smile to myself as the rain batters
against the window pane,
and reach for my pen.

You would think that nature would have more consideration than to rain on a holiday. Loved the poem it seemed such an expected and normal thing. Well written.
Yes, after recent good weather, the Bank Holiday Monday was a bit of a wash out. Definitely a day to stay indoors with a cup of tea and a book. Thanks for your comments. π
Just another normal bank holiday, enjoyed the read
Thanks a lot, PL. Yeah, that is exactly it. π
You are very welcome
Atmospheric conditions can play havoc with one's schedule, can it not, Tom?
An entertaining read I can relate to, as recently for me every other day feels like Bank Holiday Monday in the Old Country.
Thanks for the write.
Yeah, Monday just gone was bank holiday, and true to form, was pouring down. Thanks a lot for your comments, mate. π
Perfection! There's an irresistible tongue-in-cheek quality to this pretty number delineating a charming holiday planned ending up on its nose. How beautifully rendered with excellent good humor, lovely imagery and a teasing poignancy. Thank you for sharing. I love it.
Thanks so much for your comments as always, Missy. Bank Holidays are always a wash-out in the UK. We get the day off work, but the weather is usually awful. There is nothing else to do but drink tea and have a read. Oh well! π
Actually those are the most romantic days too perfectly arranged to dredge the poetry from our souls or give us the indulgence in books of poetry.
Excellent write Tom
Thanks a lot, mate.
You're'welcome
Boohoo! Does it rain EVERY Bank Holiday?! lol.
I think the early May bank holiday was okay, but Monday just gone was back to normal. π
British Bank Holidays in a Nutshell. Nice one.

Typical British weather Tom.

Oh yes, there is a local music festival starting this afternoon and as I type it is lashing down. Typical! Cheers, Tom.
Tremendous imagery. I can see it.
Thanks a lot, brother. Really appreciated. Cheers, Tom.
I love the imagery at the end
A writer in solitude reaching for a pen writing like the rain.
That is exactly it. A rainy bank holiday. Time to write. π
Trust nature to be a spoilsport but itβs a plus for the poet and the reader- they get to see one more gem
Thanks for your comments. Really appreciated.
