Mary’s Fun (3).

Mary had decided to go out jogging.

Breasts were bouncing and bobbing.

Mary tripped on the curb in the street.

As Mary fell her bra strap broke free.

Now Poor Mary’s eyes are throbbing.

Large overweight Mary had a big fall.

She had to wait for the doctor to call.

Mary your huge weight I am appalled.

Mary said I thought I was quite small.

As she ate another Greggs sausage roll.

You're hilarious. So this is Harry's princess, eh?! La dee. Poor girl. I hope he and she manage to live happily ever after despite these minor incidents. Charming and beautifully rendered with excellent imagery and a haunting poignancy. Thank you very much for sharing.

I was about to laugh, but on second read I had to lose it. The poem reminded me of a book I read around 30 years back - Time of Desecration by Alberto Moravia. Mary's character is eerily reminiscent of one of tbe prominent characters in the book. An overweight girl who couldn't control her urge of eating due to depression.

A thought provoking poem in a deceptively simple language - to me it's high poetey.
