Head Battles The Heart.

In times of need, Can we all agree, The wars need to cease We all unite in peace

Head Battles the Heart.

The head is having another emotional battle with the heart.

The old wise head is naturally defensive from the very start.

The impulsive heart jumps straight in, giving it one more try.

The experienced head is alarmed and wants to know why.

The foolish heart believes it is love and not just crazy passion.

Charged in full steam ahead didn’t stop to ask the questions.

The heart is caressed and lured into a false sense of security.

It has convinced the old eyes to see only what it wants to see.

The head has seen the heart get burned so many times before.

It tries hard to get the heart to secure and bolt down the doors.

The head can see the heart being carried on an emotional ride.

He knows from before it will not be long before the tears arrive.

The heart continues the dance chasing what it believes is love.

The head patiently sits there, carefully looking down from above.

The hearts dreams and grand illusions come to a shuddering end.

The head looks on as the heart is hurt and discarded once again.

The heart starts to realise the head had given some good advice.

The head comforted the heart from all the pain and hurt inside.

The heart and head ignored the fake tears in those deceitful eyes.

Then the heart and head stood together and finally said goodbye.

Ah the differences between logic and emotion and how they do not always agree. This time the head came out on top but it is not always so. A fun and very enjoyable read.

This is an amazing work. Very well constructed. It puts the Head against the Head in an age-old battle. A person's feelings and a person's logic are shown in conflict at first but resolve that at the end. Well done

The head and the heart, two vital to our existence, physically and philosophically. I have found many who neglect over the other, do so to their own peril. This poem, as I read it, is about the balancing act needed to keep both sides at bay. Well done, my friend! 🌹👏

What a beautiful piece. In my experience, nothing I've ever done with my heart has ever been regretted, but the mind always speaks first, and with good arguments, even though they're usually just calculations. Thanks for sharing. Cheers.

Wonderful words Tobani and so true but when head and heart are as one life is wonderful.

Ah, you're too good! If only! "...the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked: who can know it?"(Jeremiah 17:9). Oh, I can't find words to express how much I love, love, love this gorgeous number of yours!!! Exquisite and beautifully rendered with excellent imagery and a haunting, delightful, albeit bittersweet poignancy. Thank you very much for sharing, I love it!!!
