Knight Has Fallen

Knight Has Fallen

There is no light, no warmth

only darkness and cold

as he gropes along passion's pathways

crammed with damsels innocent and bold.

Silence is his armored suit

that deflects the arrows from his heart

but the mace of her allure

batters it apart.

Her shadows hide her faithless heart.

Her beauty veils her dishonesty.

He sees not, her glaring pride

and does not grasp her treachery.

Though he hungers for her arms

they will, but twist his desperate dreams

and turn the thumbscrews on his lust

until he’s pressured to extremes.

Yet, he begins to understand:

A righteous man cannot remain

encased in armor and skulk the land

crestfallen, crawling from his pain.

Sometimes a knight’s heroic

pursues his quest until the end.

Sometimes a knight surrenders

unto a Lady’s lure he bends.

He is her knight in shining moonlight.

But now, he entreats the starless sky

to grant his dismal petition….

The courage to say good-bye.

We all see ourselves as knights or damsels and in this metaphor many relationships are such allure with ulterior motives, passion driven and latter used. Such need to be said good bye to. A most poetic write with a great message.

Thank you, SB. The message is a note from the annals of broken dreams. What could have been, but something got in the way. Much appreciate your comments.

A deep regret to losing love, you have written this with every bit of reality that comes with broken love, pain torture emptiness and nothingness, skies simply void. Kudos on your imagery 🌹

Thank you, Teddy. You're much too kind. These poems come from living a life, and I believe we all feel the same joys and pains.

A lovely write with a valid message, we have all fallen for the allure of passion only to find it's poison, once sucked in saying good bye is hard, but you have to, nicely expressed and written

Thank you, LP. Seems the allure is the thing, that twists us into pretzels.

That relationship will fall into pure love Phil once his armour is removed.
