Why me?

sorenbarrett

Suffered falls never broke a bone, rolled my car when the tire was blown
set myself on fire, took the shock from a two hundred and twenty volt wire
had lightening strike a few feet from me yet in all suffered no injury
Others die from such small things, why don't I die from a nest of bee stings?

It certainly is a mystery.I knew a man who had a stroke will on a jack hammer. He was in hospital for a while but survives. Others choke to death on a fish bone in minutes.I guess there is an element of luck in this universe.Great poem.Inspirational.Made me think

A question always pondered, is it just pure luck or do some people have something else protecting them, enjoyed the read

The age old question, why? We can analyze all the factors but in the end perhaps it's just, because. How can we explain what we can't possibly understand. You gave me a really good think over this one. Excellent!

              • sorenbarrett

So good to hear from you Bella Thank you so much Bella I deeply appreciate your review and most kind understanding remarks

It seems that you were destined for greater things so a bee sting though very painful should be taken in your stride
A bit on the gloomy side but a good read

                • sorenbarrett

I know someone who died from an allergic reaction to a calabroni which is a big black bee we have here in Italy. You my friend are in the ring of a thousand angels whom protect you from harm. 😇

                    • sorenbarrett

Thank you Teddy I too had a niece that died from bee stings. It would be nice to think angels protect me but more likely it is a band of devils and demons that look after me.

Well I was just being sarcastic, 🔥 🤣

There are all types of good fortune. Some people get discovered and become stars, others work just as hard and never get an audition. If your poem is factual, your good fortune is keeping you alive. I liked your poem. The construction was unique. More importantly, it asks a penetrating question we all wonder about. - Phil A.

No accounting for it, Soren. My thought when I see a wheelchair just tells me "there but for a thousandth of an inch go I"
Much reality in a very neat form.

Impending doom......? I feel it too. Can only live one day at a time......

Some of us are more fortunate than others soren, I have never broken a bone.

Soren, my friend…you are either divinely protected or running on borrowed time! 🤣 But seriously, this is sharp—wry, self-aware, and oddly tender beneath it all. That last line? A perfect sting. And somewhere in here, I swear, a fable is trying to take root. Love it! A fave for sure! 🌹👏

Again there is such playful rhythm among serious subject matter . I am so delighted to read your work with rhythm Sir. The internal rhythmic structure of this piece really bounces and propels it forward. (I love to rhyme myself and really do find your sense of rhythm wonderful!... You have an excellent internal metronome with words. Thankyou your poetry uplifted my day. Sincerely, Elizabeth
