Some Kind of African Life
After twenty nine pints of O rhesus positive
and dying three times ..
Not to mention eight hours straight he spent
in their hands under the knife ..
They worked on him solid and not one gave
up on him, until they
eventually handed him back some kind of life ..
And although the guy
who stabbed him twice and took his phone,
his passport and watch
got clean away, he nevertheless, forgave him
and vowed, that one day
God willing, he might again return to his Africa,
providing his wife and two kids
would ever dare let him out of their sight again ..

I have the sense this is a true story, it sounds familier, nicely expressed write, good to see you back, hope all is good
I regret that it is a true story my friend .. thins are now getting better, thank you .. N
You are very welcome
Wow, he's damned determined, albeit, I canna guess why on earth the dark continent owns such a sway on him. Adroitly rendered with your capable expertise, tastefully overburdened with excellent imagery, and haunted by a ghastly, intriguing poignancy, thank you very much for sharing! I'm happy to have you back with us!
I confess it is something of a relief to be back .. cheers Missy . .. Neville
Been worried about you, checked other sites and asked around but nothing to be found. So glad that your are back seeing your poem nearly gave me a heart attack. I hope that this poem is not a personal story but whether or not it shines in all its glory. Worried that you might have been in your grave I give this poem a fave
Unfortunately it is very personal but things are now looking up again .. Many thanks for such a heart-warming review note my fine literary friend .. Neville
Excellent write
That'll do nicely Tony .. Cheers
You're welcome
Good write N. I was just deleting you - oops! Old e-mails, I mean! lol.
believe me, you wouldn't be the first to try and permanently delete me .. Neville
I've not pressed the panic button, or permanent delete button!! 🙂
It looks like we've both returned to the fold. What a remarkable and terrifying story, sadly our world becomes more violent. Wishing you much peace and strength my friend.
Hey Bella .. Yes, I was able to pop in earlier & post this little scribble .. I have been thinking of you and MPS of late and although I doubt that I shall be here as often as before, I do hope to keep in touch .. Kindest regards and all goodest of things, your Pal Me .. 💛👍
Wishing you the very, very best in all things my good friend!!
Ah, too long of a while! Good to have you back here🕊🙏🏻
Bless you brother .. I doubt I will be around that much but will be popping in whenever I can .. Neville
Oh, not to worry, that’s a similar arrangement with many of us here but this is your place; a pub of the mind and watering hole of the soul, a cathedral of thought, even.
Such dark times Neville, I hope the light is now with you and that all is well. Glad to see you back here.
Andy
Hi Andy thank you most kindly sir .. Not sure I will be such a regular feature as I once was but my friends here & MPS will always be close to my heart 💛👍
Neville…my dear poetic friend—it’s so good to see your voice again. I cannot remember if I sent you a PM or not, but I’ve thought of you more than once in your absence, sent quiet prayers your way, and hoped you were well. And then this…raw, redemptive, and pulsing with mercy. That closing vow? Brought tears to my eyes. Welcome back, my friend! You were missed. 🌹👏
You really are write up there Tristan my friend .. Thank you so much for your heart-warming review & associated note .. Kindest & best wishes to you & yours, Neville
You are most welcome, Neville. As are you, mate! Glad you are back!
Hey, welcome back. Missed your poetry. Hope this poem wasn't why you were absent for so long. My mind thought you were probably working on another book.
Your poem paints a dreadfully scary episode for someone's life. It reads as a straightforward depiction of what happened and of his response. As always it is clear and concise.
Once again, welcome back and AGTs. - Phil A.
Many thanks indeed my friend for such an encouragingly kind and heart-warming review .. Unfortunately life doesn't always go according to plan, does it & I have the scars to prove it .. Take care brother Phil & always .. Your pall, N
More scratching around ...and...found ya... Matters Arising: To be clear here - 'him' = 'I'?
Take bloody good care of yourself, whatever.
PS :Can't fave - Its horrendous.

Good to see you back. Great writing.
Thank you Thomas
To those who worked on him and didn’t give up I give my eternal thanks 💜
Thanks a million Cassie 💜
the experience seems sorrowful and devastating; but the message learnt will remain for a lifetime, and slowly one learns to accept the inevitable, and cease grieving, and get ready to move forward or retaliate. wishing success in whichever course chosen
thank you very much indeed for visiting these words & feeling able to leave your thoughts on them behind .. Neville
