I've seen men wrestle other men and get up again to shake the other's hand
Saw a man wrestle a bear, nearly tore off his underwear, whopped him to beat the band
Saw a woman wrestle an alligator, monster damn near ate 'er and she was strong as a tree
But never thought that I'd take on such a beast, nature's fury released against humanity
One day looking at the street I saw a rattlesnake , about six feet, crawling across my lawn
So grabbed my rake to pin down that snake, before he would be gone
He started to twist and spin I thought he would get away again, a better way had to be found
When I grabbed him behind his head, I thought it might be me that would be dead, we wrestled all over the ground
Just when things were looking grim I got the best of him, cut his head off clean as could be
Most men that wrestle these critters are only half witters so what does that make me?

๐๐คฃIndeed - pertinent question presented in rhymic form, Sir.
Thanks Dave nice to have you over. I appreciate the read and questioning words of sanity. You always asked me to put more personal pieces of my past in so at the risk of revealing my total lunacy I've given you another part of the past.
True. Might have to review the situation if you persist ๐คฃ Good stuff.
Definitely preferable to a recent flow of yours..........
I think only you can answer that, wonderful tale of bravery and lunacy combined, really enjoyed the read
It seems evident to me Tobani that at that time I was less than half witted. Thanks for the read and comment it is always deeply valued
You are very welcome
'Fools rush in...' and sometimes strike it lucky. It's the adventure in the risk taking, the bravery when in fear and the excitement in breaking rules - all in all you did slay the critter and who knows, perhaps saved someone's life from the rattler's fangs. If that's the act of a fool, well, let the foolish reign. I love the lighthearted approach you have taken in this episode of: The Life of the Poet Soren. Very well done, my friend.
You are in fine spirits, I trust,
Tony.
Thank you Tony my friend for your review and kind words, always full of wisdom. Adventures are what make up life and their memories are what life is. I deeply appreciate an admired poets words. I've got plenty of spirits to drink but don't imbibe before noon unless I am in Key West but that is another story.
Downing spirits in Key West, talking poetry, perhaps a balled or two rendered forth. Now, that's worth getting up early for. Bottoms up!
...now thatโs a gutsy yarn, served with a healthy dose of absurd bravado and self-aware cheek ๐๏ธ๐๐ป
Unfortunately or fortunately true it shows that bravery and lunacy are often the same thing. Thanks Cryptic for the read and supportive comments they are always appreciated.
Yup, two sides of the same coin.๐ช๐๏ธ๐๐ป
Your poem explores the theme of human bravery and folly in the face of nature's dangers. It highlights the absurdity of wrestling with wild animals and reflects on the idea of courage versus recklessness. Ultimately, the poet questions his own sanity for taking on such a challenge. using humor to reflect on the absurdity of challenging nature, ultimately questioning what it means to be brave.
Thank you Friendship for your insight into this poem and its deeper meaning. Yes indeed sometimes bravery is nothing more than being crazy and vice versa. Your interpretation is most appreciated.
Hahaโthis was a wild ride, Soren! You had me grinning the whole way through. That final punchline landed perfectly. Grit, humor, and a dash of self-awareness. Totally you. Loved this! ๐น๐
Thank you Tristan for your revies and comment it is always highly anticipated and appreciated
Here in England I can't imagine being attacked by a Rattlesnake.
Would being bothered by a Butterfly be of any use.
Good Write.
Thank you Kevin for the read and comment. Rattlers have been in every state I've lived in and although you don't see them in the city they are everywhere else.
Just trying to survive. A snake will kill and have no guilt.A fascinating tale of survival here.To kill the snake you need to cut off its head.Well done
Thanks Dave appreciate your review and words of support and encouragement. Always look forward to your reviews
Such bravery soren, so glad that you overcame the snake.
Andy
