In the dark we held each other, in shadow all men were brothers
Blood painted our name, no shame we had many mothers
First word spoken silence broken weapon of the lung
A word spear produces fear as rock words are flung
Hunter to farmer hides our armor, children our wealth
The birth of chattel, guarded cattle source of health
In the light of the fire desire grew handles
In a low glow fences grew around our candles
With Paper tongues possession forged slavery's chains of oppression
In bondage to machines, sheen that freed us, bitten by teeth of gears of depression
Worshiping circuit voices of choices illusion companion of our creation
Fed pills of indoctrination now a doped and lobotomized nation
Society's reliance on compliance is the bee's destiny
Behind the plan is man are we really free?

Civilizational progress vs moral regression
Deep philosophy, wisdom in every word
Poetic power highly praiseworthy
Lovely metaphors , well , very lovely
Every word touched my heart

Very welcome to you , Soren
Rich and vivid imagery with beautiful phraseology amidst an internal rhythmic structure that conveys a multitude of themes exploring the human condition, history, the nature of man & philosophy as well as devastatingly emotionally poignant reflections. Qudos on a beautiful piece. Sincerely, Elizabeth
Thank you Elizabeth for your read and supportive words they are very much appreciated

Deep thinking and meaning in this write reflecting onl civilisations progress or not as may be the case, I also felt alot of references referring to the darker times of the slave trade, enjoyed the read
Thank you for your review and take on this poem. We have come out of darkness into what we think is light but is it really or do we need to evolve further to see the light? I added two lines to make it a sonnet and complete the thought. Your words are always appreciated.
You are very welcome
Reading “light of progress” feels like stepping through time’s shadowed corridors. It begins in a shared darkness; humanity unified in vulnerability, then traces our inventions and inventions’ unintended chains. The poem’s sweep from primal intimacy to modern indoctrination strikes with urgent clarity. It invites us to question whether we can reclaim the tools we’ve forged.🕊️🙏🏻
Thank you Cryptic for the read and understanding its meaning, I just amended it with two lines to give it a sonnet finish and final thought of destiny.
Just today during my shift, a coworker had shared about a bee buzzing in and around their hair! Now the sonnet shall live forever in my thoughts.

Hello Soren,
From the naked ape to the clothed obedient; unable to function without the pills of survival and the shackles of fake liberties in a plastic society. As powerful as it is excellent and brilliantly composed. Very well done indeed, my fine fellow.
Wishing you the very best,
Tony.
Thank you so much Tony I appreciate your words of support they mean a great deal
We are only free if we think outside the box and trust our own freedom soren.
