Remarking on A Flight of Fancy
This is so much more
than just fun,
or a flight of fancy, she said ..
Can you not
feel it in those
pretty wings of yours ..
Although I learnt
a long time ago,
it’s okay to look back ..
I dare not go
anywhere
near them, these days ..
It’s all in the way
we plummet and fall
from the sky, you see ..
Much like Icarus burned,
so maybe we all
should have just listened more ..

Those flight of fancy wings can get too close to the sun and wax does not stick well to skin in warm weather. Nicely penned my friend
Cheers my friend .. Neville 😎👍
A very nicely nicely thought out write, being burned leaves an everlasting scar, enjoyed the read
many thanks for that PL .. stay well and have a FAB weekend .. Neville
You are very welcome and you too
Your poem carries a mournful wisdom, gently cautioning against hubris while also recognising the inevitable allure of flight. It's a quiet elegy for the dreamers, and a mirror for anyone who's tried to defy gravity long enough to understand what holds us down.
I like your take on this little scribble you have darn nearly captured the soul of it in its entirety .. Neville
Oh, next time let’s go for the whole shebang🙏🏻🕊
Godo write N. KP don't burn up, she melts with botox. I told her that's what would happen, then I said to her 'Oops, my dear, it alrwady has happened'. lol.
I'm surprised she's not turned you into a draught excluder by now ..
Neville, there’s more weight in this than the title lets on, mate! The imagery lands wonderfully…wings not just for soaring, but for burning. And invoking Icarus feels earned...not a warning, but a truth we keep learning the hard way. Beautiful work, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
Tristan you are a bloomin diamond my friend .. Many thanks for your heart-warming review .. Neville 😎🐦⬛💛🐈⬛👍
Flights of fancy took me to some strange places in the past Neville but that stopped a very long time ago .

Never give up, I hear Easy Jet have some good offers on .. Neville
So much within these words, love. life, wisdom. remembrance....And more, I'm sure. I read it as remembering a romance that was less than serious, and gaining a spoken wisdom, which is being recalled by one now older and wiser. Birds as a metaphor for love is true in the sense of flight and its hazards. We soar only to crash and die. Loved it. - Phil A.
I shall have to start calling you Hawkeye .. Thanks a ton brother Phil .. Neville
Deja vu haunts both the title of this familiar pretty number and its meat, yet a casual search left me empty-handed. Guess it all depends on the dearth or lack thereof since certain indulgences seem to never lose their flavor until superseded. Beautifully rendered with excellent imagery and a haunting poignancy. Thank you again for sharing.
I feel like you are spoiling me today Missy .. a bit like a Yorkie Pudding crisp on the outside edges & on top but moist n slightly oozy in the middle .. cooked in the meat juices of course .. Thanks darlin ..
My pleasure, you're very welcome!
