One hundred years ago he was born,
A pianist I have listened to,
Listened to all my life.
Oscar Peterson is still
The pianist I go to,
To listen to his music.
I have seen him live
And he was superb,
And evening full of wonder,
Full of wonderful jazz.
I have many of his albums
And will always listen to him.
Happy Birthday Oscar.

- Comment from author about the poem: Oscar Peterson was called the "Maharaja of the keyboard" by Duke Ellington. The music is the very first album of Oscar Peterson that I bought.
