Marching on Bone Spurs
okay maybe,
if he had just been forced
to march
on his bone spurs for one
or two years ..
the world today would be,
a better place ..
where honour, justice, truth
and morality
might still command respect
and retain that
certain something that which
without doubt,
once made decent folk proud ..

Although the individual does not come to mind the message seeps through and indeed there seems to be no greatness without adversity and there is no honor in ease. It is in the hottest fire that the best steel is tempered. Loved this one Neville a fave
Well I never, then I'm gonna thank you regardless just for showing up .. Cheers ππ
It is always my pleasure Neville where is everybody at? Your poems deserve a plethora of readers, have they all gone on holiday or died in hopes of being recognized or becoming famous?
I felt this to my bone, for the marching I have done. Forever building on being one of the decent folk!
Great poem
You are a decent folk for folks sake mate .. Cheers .. Neville
Got it in me fingers... and yes. perhaps foreshortened responses here might make, if not the world, then some contributors here less unhappy....but then... perhaps not...
But back to your original proposition - I do get your drift, Neville.
I can't help but wear my heart pinned to the mast Dave .. thanks for showing up & taking part .. I couldn't ask for more .. Neville
Cheers Neville.
First, I have to get this out out of the way: OUCH! LOL! That aside...the line about honor, justice, truth, and moralityβ¦thatβs the one that echoes loudest here for me. Itβs not just critique...itβs lament for whatβs been squandered. The whole poem is very strongly written, Neville. πΉπ€ππ―οΈπ¦ββ¬ Well done...and extra π¦ββ¬π¦ββ¬π¦ββ¬π¦ββ¬π¦ββ¬...that's six crows total...not quite a murder because, well, I love you! π€£ Seriously, though, great job!
Well flock me .. I am honoured n truly .. ππββ¬π¦ββ¬πββ¬π¦ββ¬π§π¦ββ¬πββ¬π§π
You are most welcome my friend!
Wow. I do so dearly LOVE how you make me whistle low in concluding, this pretty number with such a weighty poignancy it leaves me breathless in dread anticipation, poised on the verge of the unknown like some puddy tat about to spring. Gorgeously rendered with exquisite imagery and, yes. Thank you so very much for sharing. I love this.
Its impossible to please all the folk all the time innit Missy .. I wasn't sure how this would go down with folk on your side of the Pond but then, do I look bovvered .. Cheers for participating in this cultural exchange & social experiment .. Yours truly .. lil ol Me .. ππxox
I dunno what I'm on about really - bone spurs? All I know is, I did not march wearing any spurs, but I did sit on one - ouch! lol.
I bet that made the colour drain from ya wotsits .. and if you went any paler we would have to start calling you erminetrude π
If only......
Andy
Absolutely I hope the tide is about to turn ππ
Can't agree more. But having said that, the question still lingers- would it have? Loved it!
I wish I could be more sure but think it might just have made his narcissism even more pronounced .. and on further reflection, maybe that's why he zig-zags
Making decent folk proud... I like that line, and beautiful poem
I liked the fact you took time to stop by .. and by the way, I neva saw ya coming .. Cheers .. Neville ππ
