Biscuit Jar

Chris Duffy

We moved out of the country to  the city,
just to be where all the  people are.
There’s coffee in the kitchen and a choice of home made biscuits, kept inside our great big biscuit jar.

There’s no need to knock upon our front door,
It’s open, so come in and  stay with us  awhile,
Let’s discuss your troubles if you want to, with free advice that’s sure to make you smile.

Friends are always welcome at our table.
No matter where you’re from or who you are.
So gather around our table, stay as long as you are able, and we'll get out the biscuit jar.

If you are a tired or lonely stranger, at the beginning or at your journey’s end.
If you're broken-hearted or in danger.
Come inside, consider us your friend.
.
If you’ve reached the end of rope or tether.
You need some place to stop and heal your scars.
A harbour from life's clouds or stormy weather.
You’ll find it all inside that biscuit jar.

When your troubles gather and surround you.
If you’re lost and don't know where you are.
We’ll form a guard of honour all around you.
And show you what we keep inside that jar.
.
When troubles overwhelm and drag you under.
When storm clouds leave you helpless and at sea.
When dark skies fill your heart and soul with thunder.
Come home to that biscuit jar and me.

    Very good inspiring words Chris.

I make biscuits and put them in a biscuit jar but unfortunately every time I pass the jar I need to try one to see if they still taste OK. LOL

      Mornings Andy .

      Hope you’re well
I know that feeling but fortunately or unfortunately my Parkinson’s makes me burn calories when I shake so I’m on Doctor’s orders to eat lots of biscuits, cakes etc.

A lovely metaphor for giving to others and offering what one has as a charitable and hospitable gesture. A lovely write

            You are most welcome

That's a reversal. Reality perhaps decrees that if you want to leave your door open to all comers, then a move to the country might be more strategic, Chris.

Couldn't you find a better excuse than Parkinson's for keeping your hand in the biscuit jar???.....

....and before someone here rears up and demands my exclusion from this site forever, it's called Black Humour...not you, Chris, I know you'd get it!....you did it anyway..

Thank you Dave for your kind comment and yes Black black raven, graphite humour is my favourite brand.
