Wind

sorenbarrett

It comes in soft whispers and gentle moans
Mariah and sisters, hear their creaking bones
The panting and deepening of their sigh
Distant ranting and weeping, a forlorn cry

Waves of mounting torment in screams bewail
Rage long dormant from heaving breast to rail
Rooted trees give way to its brutal force
Bringing old giants to their knees in its course

In obeisance all creation does bow
Satan's breath blows destination to its plough
Those that won't kneel, beheaded all the proud
Sickle of breathy steel wielded by a cloud

Devastation's wake grieves, prostrate in shame
In peace she leaves as silently as came

With souch grace you do write, this is beautiful in Italy we call the wind "il vento" it's also a beautiful word. Stunning my friend. Such emotion and imagery. 🌹

Thank you Teddy for your most kind review of this piece. Latin languages are very similar and Italian and Portuguese in many ways close sisters. Here it is o vento. and I believe it is pronounced almost identical.

Your poem "Wind" revolves around the duality of nature's forcesβ€”its beauty and gentleness contrasted with its destructive power. The wind is personified as an overwhelming force that commands respect and submission from all living beings, symbolizing both the inevitability of nature's fury and the fragility of existence. The Poet includes themes of destruction, reverence, and the cyclical nature of life and death. You appear to be seeking to elicit an emotional response regarding humanity's relationship with nature, underscoring both reverence and fear in the face of natural forces. It serves as a contemplation on the inevitability of destruction and the cycle of life

Mariah named, and Mariah sung...your wind becomes voice, lament, and judgment all at once. This is mythic writing, brother. A fave! πŸŒΉπŸ–€πŸ™πŸ•―οΈπŸ¦‡πŸ¦β€β¬›

Great poem, sorenbarrett, very timely. We are waiting on an angry wind today and tomorrow.

                  • sorenbarrett

Thank you Jerry I appreciate your review and understanding words. Yes in fact this was inspired yesterday as a strong wind hit and I watched one tree after another snap, become uprooted and fall all around me. I heard many snap and saw at least six fall.

                    Whisper to roar
                    Roots torn wide
                    Her fury spent
                    Sighs can't hide

Is the wind satan's rage or God's righteous anger? I really like this poem a lot.
