Traps

sorenbarrett

A lion from its ambush sees the lamb on open ground
How quickly, predator life does squeeze from prey with no sound
A snake's tale falls from the nest, awaiting returning dove
Inside coiled is the rest, expect no mercy from above

Has more than the obvious meaning to me dearest sorrenbarrett although nature takes its course this can refer also to the current state of our world. Kudos magnificent imagery powerful poetry. 🌹

Very observant my friend. It does indeed have layers of meanings one of which could indeed be present state of affairs. You might also note archetypal symbols or biblical ones. Thanks so much for your read and understanding words they are always appreciated

Your poem coils with primal inevitability: a world where hunter and hunted are bound in silent tension. Each image is a trap sprung by nature’s own design, where mercy is absent, and survival is written in shadow and strike. I used to have this tug within while watching naturist documentaries where the preying process is observed to its completion. Still gives me the shivers.

Your poem "Traps" revolves around the brutal and unyielding nature of predation in the animal kingdom. It highlights the instinctual behaviors of predators and their prey, emphasizing themes of survival, violence, and the inevitability of death. This poem may aim to reflect on the nature of life, the inevitability of death, and the primal instincts that govern survival in the animal kingdom. It invites readers to consider the moral implications of predation and the lack of mercy in nature and the world.

Enjoyed. Many a time I look at a peaceful field that looks so quiet and still. But within the Grass and bushes there's a War going on where all sorts of insects are fighting for survival and for food. Something we never realise. Good one.
