Before It's Too Late

Teddy.15

I was reminiscing of the times

when the only influencer was

a Hollywood Goddess or a Gladiator

when times were simple

i'd watch Dirty Dancing

and I'd want to be a dancer

I'd watch Jeff Bridges and Barbers Streisand

and I'd want to fall in love

now the influencer wants to sell us

skin cream no one’s ever tested on anything

and our children?

well they want to live and breathe in Cyber world

and who can blame them?

all they see is rich young people

with fast cars and posh handbags

whom by the way are slaves of the public

humans have created a trap

which will be the end of arts and imagination

and for what?

to see the dollars, pile high in the cyber bank?

whilst our children get fat in chairs or even worse bed

with junk food close by, ordered on delivery by an app

waiting eagerly for more likes, or bully comment?

whilst the company they sell for

are dining off fresh fish, on a yacht in worlds ocean

with not a care or work ethic in mind?

and us? good parents who would do anything to teach our kids

right from wrong

look bad for saying no

some have lost all authority

because they are themselves influenced

into believing it’s all ok?

well it’s not

where does one draw the line?

and Roblocks?

did you know, your ten-year-old can have a virtual lover?

probably some sick man or woman

needing to feel loved

making arrangements to meet your child

at the park down the road?

pretending to be an eleven-year-old themselves?

doesn't that just frighten the hell out of you?

do you even check their phone?

when, are we going to take our authority back?

no child in the world is entitled to privacy

we are the Adults

we must keep them safe come rain or shine

isn’t it a privilege to teach our children how to ride a bike?

or roller-skate or search the green outside in the gardens for flowers

well, isn't it?

so let's take back our lives

and remember it's up to us if we give our children a phone

it’s up to us which type of apps they have?

we are the grown-ups

and trust me they depend on us for safe guidance

so please take note…

before it's too late.

Good write, Teddy. When going back and going forward are both bad choices. You have to make a stand. Great reminder, Teddy.

Anyone with children in today's world would understand this perfectly, thank you dearest Jerry. 🌹

When a child rules were so strong that they were never said. My parents gave us total freedom to roam and return when we wished. As a teen I departed for several days into the mountains with a friend and nothing was said for they knew that I would keep the rules that were silently there. There was mutual trust on both ends. They didn't fear for my safety because they knew that I wouldn't do anything stupid even though I hitchhiked and rode boxcars they trusted me and I kept the rules. Times are different now. Good write

You have touched on trust which for me is one of the most important lessons we can share with our children, I was pretty much this way although I was in London town and I am speaking of the 70/80's for my own experience, today's world is incredibly different and some people give babies phones when they are in the pram these days, and in my personal experience I know you also get parents who want their children to be influencers, I am grateful.i live in a land where families still have values and respect and curiosity and hope for a future that is not online. Thank you dearest sorrenbarret, some of the stories I could tell you about my life would.make.you smile and frown, I used to travel on the bus to go into the centre when I was 9/10 years old and I doubt my parents ever knew. We also used to have the C.B with at least a voice so we had more idea of the person we were speaking with, but even that was a risk. which in today's world we can interact perfectly just with the keys of the computer, terrifying to me and I'm sure others. Biggest of hugs my friend, and thank you for your ever waving support. 🌹

Reading this, I felt the weight of what we’re up against. Like you, I remember simpler influences…now it’s profit machines shaping our children. You’ve spoken truth that needs to be heard, dear Teddy. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛ A must fave!

Thank you dearest Tristan, even if it helps one parent to understand the dangers I've done a good thing, thank you my darling friend. 🌹

Such very true words Teddy, life is so dangerous for the young nowadays being led to places they should never go. Very understanding words.

This is what my generation is up against dear Andy, there are.alsomtnose parents who couldn't care less as long as their kids are out of their way. 🌹
