Gently

sorenbarrett

Death comes in gentler days crawling on padded shadows
It creeps like the shade of night taking hold of all
Blanketing hills and valleys, river and seas
None escape its muffled grasp

In an instant snatching away startled prey to comfort in its arms
Quieting the frightened babe with whispered lullabies
Darkness enfolds the weary soldier
Broken mother, babe bundle of bones

A graveyard nursery where misery sleeps calmly
Each stone marking planted dreams
Rocked to sleep in forgetfulness
A tender kiss takes them home

This is both haunting and merciful...death crawling in padded shadows, whispering lullabies, planting dreams in stone. You’ve written the paradox with such quiet power, Soren. Beautifully done, Soren. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛
