Friend or Foe

Poetic Licence

Notice of absence from Poetic Licence
It's nearly that scary time off year, where you have to decide who is going to be Santa this year!!!.

If there was an occasion where God and the Devil came face to face.
Do you think they would ignore each other or would they embrace.
Would they agree and acknowledge they each have a part to play.
In the current state of affairs we sadly find in the world today.
So if God and the Devil agreed to go to the pub for a drink and a bite to eat.
What do you think the conversations would be about and would they agree

Would they laugh at the irony, two legends sharing a stool,
Trading tales of prophets, tyrants, and the stubbornness of fools.
Would they toast to free will, that double-edged gift,
Or argue who shoulders the blame when the world starts to drift.
Perhaps they'd find comfort in the roles they both keep,
Two sides of a coin, twirling and spinning, endlessly deep.

In this earth where we live
No one can be united
There is always a contrast;
A contrast of a foe and a friend
Life is a fighting ground
Two nations becoming foes
Not agreeing to be friends

A devil and God in a pub;
is a war zone
A boxing ring
Throwing punches on one faces
A conversation that spits fire
A contrast between light and darkness
There is a disagreement between light and darkness
For it is said light and darkness does not agree

And yet,
among the embers and the ash,
remains a sigh that takes no side.
Neither the shadow claims it,
nor the light blesses it.

The friend brings goodness
The foe then takes it away
But good doe come back.

Maybe they would have a two for one and agree to share the bill.
Maybe they would continue the battle for souls and will's.
Maybe they would both be stuck to find any meaningful words.
Maybe they would discuss all the rumours they have heard.
Maybe they would get together because they both agree.
Someone or something desperately has to try to save humanity.

It is probably going to be a permit to test
A test permit
A permit to test some humans
Like Job in the Bible

Guards' query given in a trice, what follows is rather nice,
Except, tis Santa and the Easter Bunny
Both leering in the shadows like it's funny.
The creator and His rebellious creature in a tetê-a-teté
Only the blind and deaf ask what they'd really say.
God tells all Himself while the devil blocks their view
And I'm just wondering how much longer til they do
Erm, see beyond the lies and subterfuge of him
Whom none but few can recognize, too dim.
Oh, surely, now the end of all is very near!
How long until Thy voice alone all, all shall finally hear?

I like how you showed the push and pull between good and evil—it really reflects what happens around us every day.
