I Wanna Be a Princess.

Wishing you all a fantastic Halloween, Guy Fawkes,
Christmas and Happy New Year..

I Wanna Be a Princess.

Drinking chilled champagne on her own in the corner of the room.

Thinking I can never be rich, famous and powerful just on my own.

It’s time to get hunting and catch me a lost, rich and unhappy son.

I might get very lucky, a wayward stray waif from a royal Kingdom.

Her mind wandered and her dreams and desires started to unfold.

Palatial houses, lavish parties, designer clothes, riches to behold.

An army of staff to pamper and meet her needs but never to thank.

Preferably someone with a title that is constant money in the bank.

She thought I do not want to work for my place in the rich Kingdom.

As soon as I receive what I want, I have made plans to leave them.

If I get a royal title, I can be the Princess I have always thought I am.

Then it’s easy control every move and thought of my captured man.

We can conduct interviews and write books for a mountain of cash.

Revealing all the scandalous lies we want completely unabashed.

Me performing the victim role so well played by my own spare man.

Then remove him and isolate him from his family as quickly as I can.

His expensive private education would only go to confirm he is thick.

Easy to control just take him by the hand and lead him by his prick.

I will perform my best Oscar performance in convincing him I care.

That he is now loved and there is no need to still feel like the spare.

I will have his children to ensure I will always be the Princess I am.

I can always use that bloodline that I will hold treasure in my hands.

I have no real intention of integrating or mixing with any of his family.

They will just have to understand that the spare now belongs to me.

Once we are finally married and the royal title is bestowed upon me.

I will turn tail rapidly, reject, insult and anger the whole royal family.

Then we will relocate to a lavish palace in the bright Californian sun.

This will be my home forever, even when I become a single mum.

She came out of her daydream; she slowly walked across the room.

Then a member of his private staff introduced Prince Harry to Megan.

Wow! A poem that started as a dreaming gold digger transforms into a political commentary. Well written as a psychological dream then plan common to many it metamorphosizes into reality. Well rhymed and imaged it sings to greed, lust for power, a coveter's dream. I will have another side to this poem of dreams tomorrow Tobani. Loved it a fave

Well written, your poem "I Wanna Be a Princess" explores themes of ambition, materialism, and the desire for social status through the perspective of a woman who dreams of marrying into royalty. It critiques the superficial motivations behind seeking wealth and power, exposing the manipulative tactics one might employ to achieve such a goal.

As we all know, In Downton Abbey days, impoverished English lords imported American heiresses with substantial wealth as wives…..I know not of the motivations and machinations of royalty today any more than I know the motivations of Musk, tech billionaires, Bezos et al.
My ignorance does not prevent the enjoyment of some right royal entertainment though….

Whoa! *cough, cough*... there's much, much more to the tale than meets the eye, as his revered grandmother wouldn't have been Queen but for the predecessor who abdicated to pull off this stunt. Beautifully rendered with excellent imagery and a griping, haunting, tell-tale poignancy. Thank you for sharing. You're downright dangerous. Love you!

Super write Tobani. It may well have happened this way.

Really sharp piece here, Tobani. I like how it flips the fairy‑tale idea of “princess” into something biting and satirical. The mix of daydream and reality gives it a punch, and those digs about performance and control land hard. Whether you agree with the take or not, it’s definitely a bold, provocative read. 🙏🕊️

Yes, it's a great dream I'm sure a lot of girls have.
Imagine it coming true, mind you.
Sure has put a rocket up the royal family and the papers love it.
I wouldn't mind being banished to California.

Banished is good, even better if we could do what they did and choose to move there

Tobani, your satire walks that fine line perfectly…provocative but purposeful. I appreciate how you use voice and irony to hold a mirror to celebrity culture itself. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛
