Was one whole month without a word -
And all you had to write was ’boo’
For ‘love’ nonsense to be interred;
A knight in shining amour, you.…

I think metaphors are best used as riddles, don't you?
I doubt I can work out the 'boo'. Well, I only got 3 brain cells to work with! lol.
Those three brain cells - don't they ever multiply... or divide... or go on a trip?
Sometimes on or two of them go on holiday, so I'm left with 1 brain cell. I don't know when the other two will come back. lol.

No, in general I would agree. I'm no good at the cryptic/metaphorical generally but I so rarely do riddles and for a decent riddle you need a metaphor because a metaphor is the heart of a riddle....

This seems a most timely piece with it being the time of the year that it is. That boo comes as a ghostly whisper. Love puzzle poems Dave but I come to their solution slowly much to the frustration of those around me. Surely Shirly will understand.
'Come' or 'came' ? Glad someone enjoyed. Obviously time of year a pure coincidence... although... Comparatively light hearted, given the subject (or rather object). Good old Shirl.....
I said come because in this case although almost certain the reference I am not 100% so to say came would infer resolution.
Hmm... well keep on working at it...probably get there in the end.... or maybe you have better poets to support....

Perhaps I should introduce you to Shirley... aah! that's no good - two reasons: we don't get on very well, and Florence Italy is a foreign country....
