Rain

sorenbarrett

Embraced by the storm, held in the arms of rain
Clouded walls warm, secure and guard my domain
Its darkness shelters my fragile shell
With blanketing fog that conceals so well
Wrapped in rolling velvet mist
By a sleepy safe place, nature kissed
Falling dozing droplets sing a lullaby
Day's fires quenched, dark ash past fears nullify

I like how this flips the usual idea of storms being violent or threatening. Here the rain feels almost maternal, of wrapping, sheltering, singing you to sleep. That last image of fears turning to “dark ash” really lands, like the storm has burned away the day’s weight and left only quiet. It’s a gentle reminder that sometimes the wildest weather is also the safest place to rest. 🙏🕊️

Thanks Cryptic for the review. Yes I have always found storms to be comforting rather than terrifying, be they lightning, hurricanes or torrential rain only tornados give me concern.

Soren, this reads like nature’s lullaby...gentle, protective, and full of quiet awe. You remind us that even storms can cradle us in peace. 🗣️💭🌍🙏
