Leaves in the wind, people I'll never see again
In the rain fallen I can hear their voice callen
Once here, now only shadows that disappear
An echo falls, memory's dust piles cover my ear
Lost in fading twilight of oncoming night
Aftertastes of old friends out of sight

A super yet so very sad write - superbly drafted.
Thank you Michael for the read and most kind words of comment. Age takes its toll.
Withered away with time, ah my dear sorrenbarret this one hits hard, you have overseas friends, not quite the same I know. I guess the older we get the more we see in loss and all. π
Thank you my friend for the read and kind words of support they are deeply valued
Brilliant and sad.
Thank you so much Thomas I deeply appreciate your read and comment. It means a lot
When you count your friends on one hand, you know the day is dawning.
Check your time clock, the conductor shouted, time is moving on.
Where did the years go.
Thank you so much Paul for the read and kind words. Yes you are so right. My grandfather used to read the obituaries and I asked him why, he said to see who he still knew. One day I noticed he wasn't reading them anymore and I asked why. He aid I don't know anybody anymore.
Since im in a really emotional state right now you poem made me cry.But that just shows the talent it takes to make somebody cry with your words.Amazing poem.

Thank you so much Orchi for the read and comment. I heard that Botox turns to dust after a while.
Soren, this reads like memory weatherβ¦leaves scattering, voices thinning, old companions dissolving into dusk. Beautiful and heavy, my friend. Well done. πΉπ€ππ―οΈπ¦ββ¬

You are most welcome, Soren!
Yes a fine Poem. Sometimes the People who have gone still Pop Up in dreams now and then.
And then the Realisation of the truth when you wake is Heartbreaking.
Thank you so much for the read and understanding words of support. It is most appreciated
This leaves a gentle ache where echoed voices filter like fading leaves. Very tender and altogether human. And like rain can be simultaneously heavy and luminous, both happy and sad, washing us and resonating with our soul. ποΈπ
Thank you my friend for your review and most understanding words of support and encouragement they are as always most appreciated
Always welcome, dear friend ππ»ποΈ

Being a veteran I have lost a lot of friends!
I'm sure that is difficult. Being old I have lost all of mine
