To the retirement home we went,
Our choir went there.
The residents were waiting,
We started to sing
And the enjoyment came to them
As they listened to us.
They smiled and sang with us,
Total enjoyment was there.
We finished our singing
Grateful thanks were given,
And then they treated us,
Treated us to mince pies,
Mince pies and mulled wine.
We then went to the pub
And sang there.
What a difference!
The staff barely spoke to us
And when we sang
So few applauded.
It was not a good place to sing
But we sang well,
And I had my pint,
Had my pint of Guiness,
So it wasn’t all bad.

- Comment from author about the poem: Two places we sang yesterday and what a different reaction from them both! The song in the video is one that we sang.

Was I with you too? If so, did you drown me out with your singing?! lol.
Yes we did drown you out Orchi, also all those talking in the pub. LOL

Tis true Andy with song, poetry, one's own being appreciated in one setting and not so much in another, all the difference between away and home. Nicely done.
Very true soren, thank you for your understanding.

The poem contrasts the joy and warmth experienced while performing for residents in a retirement home with the indifference and lack of connection felt while singing in a pub. It highlights the importance of audience engagement and appreciation in creating a fulfilling experience for performers.
So kind Friendship and so understanding, thank you.

"Good things come to those who wait"
They certainly do Dave, we have our big Christmas concert in a couple of weeks and that always goes down well.
