Name It!

Doggerel Dave

The two week festive season was enjoyed -

Same company for the last twenty years.

She and I have a relationship based

On truth trust and (mostly) tranquility.

I should try the word - call it...Love…

Life as usual in a normal relationship that lasts that long. Good write my friend

    • Doggerel Dave

Thanks Soren. This is a one off, I shall not bring my private life to the table again.

You are most welcome Dave. Sometimes we all need to reveal a part of ourselves, I wouldn't rule it out for all of the future my friend.

You most definitely should, you rascal! La, this is a beauty. Now I'm excited for you two. Thank you for sharing!

          Rascal! Rascal? Words fail me!
However I do feel validated by your unconditional support, Missy. Many thanks.

Dave, this poem understands that love doesn’t always announce itself. It grows in time, in truth, in tranquility, until one day the word finally fits. A gentle, sincere piece that lands just right. Happy New Year, my friend.πŸŒΉπŸ–€πŸ™πŸ•―οΈπŸ¦β€β¬›

          • Doggerel Dave

Thanks Tristan I was certain I could rely on you for the right amount of empathy, and for that I am totally grateful.
Happy New Year for you too.

            • Doggerel Dave

You summed up my mood/feeling so very neatly Tristan.

You are most welcome, dear friend!

Love reigns in all relationships Dave, just tell her as I do every day to my Mary.

There are many modes of communication, Andy... Thanks for the read and call.

Good write D. You can name me Sir Orchi NS, Esq, VC, MBE, OBE, KC, BBC, ITV, etc. An old 'Carry on' joke, that is!

                  • Doggerel Dave

Woz it carried off in a box?

                    • orchidee

Yes, a very old joke. But they can call me Sir and kiss my boots. I insist on it! lol.

How can we love our football team openly but struggle with the girl.
A girl that shares tranquillity is a definite stayer.

Abuse of the word 'love' - something I've ranted about on several occasions here....
Tranquility? Pls note 'mostly'. Healthy relationship, healthy exchange of views occasionally. Doesn't threaten solid 20+ years.

I feel relaxed and cool right now (forget the heatwave).

Dave, there’s something powerful in how restrained this is. Long love, earned trust, and no fireworks needed. That last line lands softly but stays with you. Honest and true.

                          • Doggerel Dave

More thanks than I can say, Thomas. Glad it landed that way.

20 years and more - and that too with tranquillity and trust - it's amazing and I wish you 20 more of the same...your partner is one lucky lady for sure...
Wishing more peaceful interaction in 2026 and thereafter too...

                            • Doggerel Dave

Won't get another twenty, but I understand the kindness embodied in such a wish.
PS: It's me that is the lucky one.
                              You look after yourselves.

                              • NafisaSB

thanks, we do, and we will; wishing you both a long life in good health - take care
