What Is Art?

Goldfinch60

Many look at art and look for beauty,

Look for beauty in the work.

But art is not beauty

It is the things that can be seen

In the story untold.

Art is not perfection,

It’s courage to see,

To see the ordinary,

See the strange,

See the wild and the free.

It’s a lens for the heart

To seek out the truth,

The truth that’s hidden behind

That we can each see differently.

So let us not chase what’s pretty or neat,

But cherish the vision where differences meet.

For art is not beauty, but seeing anew

A journey, a question, a window, a view.

  • Comment from author about the poem: When I look at artworks I can see so many differing things. It can happen in music as well as can be seen in the video. I have seen Rik Wakeman live a a few times and he is wonderful.

What is art? Art is like your favourite bottle of wine, it's the one you simply love more ❣️

You have captured the definition of art better than I have heard it before and in a most poetic manner Andy and that for me is a fave
