Tune: St Peter
('How sweet the name of Jesus sounds')
Luke 11 v.5-10
**********
Three friends in the poem - A, B, and C.
----------
A friend (A) called on another friend (B)
At midnight, said, Me lend
Three loaves, for a friend (C) of mine, he
Has journeyed unto me
And I have nothing in store for
Him, he is hungry sure
But friend (B) in house said, Trouble me
Not, in bed my family
Though he (B) not rise and his friend (A) give
So his friend (C) would live
Yet because he (A) persists, he (B) will
Get up, give to him (A) still
So Jesus says, Ask, and it shall
Be given you, know well
Seek, and you shall find, knock, and then
Door to you be opened
For every one that asks receives
They that seek find, believe
This, and to they that knock, the door
Shall be opened, 'tis sure

Erm, a silent comment?! lol.
Orchi, I really enjoyed the warmth and simplicity of this retelling. The hymn-like rhythm makes the parable feel approachable and alive, and the persistence of friend A comes through clearly all the way to the end. Meanwhile, somewhere offstage, Popeyeus Glug Maximus Solus is probably still trying to barter spinach root beer for the three loaves while scooby supervises the negotiations over, yup, Scooby snaks. Tom is knitting Shaggy some shaggy socks. Why shaggy? WCAT! 🤣 Nicely done, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️
Thank you T. Yep, Popeye sneaked in, wanting spinach root beer. In his case, as the saying goes, 'A friend in need.... is a pest!' lol.
And who IS Mr P.G.M. Solus? WCAT! lol.
One of the most powerful messages of the Christian faith.Knock and the door shall be opened.Beautiful poem
