Fourteen years ago,
Fourteen years ago today
Came that day in my life,
That day I retired from work.
I did my work over the years,
I worked for forty seven years,
Forty seven years and one month,
And in that time
I was never out of work.
I started in chemistry,
Moving onto metallurgy
Then into building maintenance
Where I started my journey,
My journey in computing
And remained in computing,
Remained in computing until,
Until that day I retired,
I retired fourteen years ago,
Fourteen years ago today.
In all the time working
Everything was good
And I feel so lucky,
So lucky to have worked that way.
And now I am retired
And enjoying the life I have,
The life I paid for,
Paid for while working.
My life is wonderful.
