- Comment from author about the poem: My Father would have been 80 years old today, he passed away in the spring of this year. How funny that we take our parents for granted until such a day they are gone. ❤️

Knowledge comes too late many times in this life. A wonderful write my friend and a bit sad with feelings of regret. Well done Teddy
Thank you dear sorrenbarret for your compassionate and kind words. 🌹
Always a pleasure
Hi Shirley, a lovely poem for your Dad. I'm sure he knew how much you loved him, even if you admit you didn't know him too well.
I love the lines about not knowing yourself as you were busy growing too. It took me until around age 28 to finally embrace the inner me and feel comfortable in my own skin. Strange that isn't it? I can relate to this piece, me and my Dad have a had a tough relationship at times but I now get on better than ever with him.

Dear Syd, such a beautiful response, maybe it's a woman thing, I was just too busy finding me, I moved to a foreign county at the age of 28 and I was more lost than ever, I've found myself now but I'm 51 my dad was a very hard man without emotion and although I loved him with all my heart I could never really be myself around him, in the end I was. Thank you so much. 🌹
Teddy, this broke my heart. Growing into ourselves takes time, and sometimes understanding arrives only after the person we most want to share it with is gone. Beautifully vulnerable work, my friend! 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
My mother passed away when I was 38 she didn't know I was going to be a mother too. I wish with all my heart she could have known me now too, isn't life a bowl of lemons sometimes, I finally found me and they are both gone. My darling Tristan thank you. 🌹
Yes, dearest Teddy, life sure can be a bowl of lemons, and lemonade is hard to make when there’s little sugar or water left. Yet, my friend, you’ve done just that. I can only imagine that finding YOU is what they both would have wanted for you, and that they’d be incredibly proud. Sending you lots of love and hugs as you remember them both. 🌹❤️🩹🙏🕯️🐦⬛
❤️
Such a shame you did not know your father better Teddy, my dad and I were like best friends, we got on so very well together, he was one of Nature's gentlemen.
Andy
It's funny where we are in times of our life, now I can go home freely without worry economically or time, yet they are not there. Life's full of lemons 💜 I am happy you had such a beautiful friendship with yours.
