The Lady In Red.

Goldfinch60

Into the shop we went,

Looking around.

My lover was looking at dresses,

She chose one,

Tried it on,

And came out of the changing room.

And there jn front of me

Was my beautiful lady

Dressed in red.

Her beauty shone for all to see,

Such beauty in that dress.

I was already in love with her

And that image enhanced it,

We couldn’t think our love could get stronger

But this dress was so beautiful

That I was almost in tears

At the sight,

The sight of my lover,

Sight of her in that red dress.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This also took me back to when I was married to Joyce, we went to lunch one day and there was a singer there, Joyce was wearing a red dress and during the lunch the singer came over to our table and sang Lady in Red to Joyce.
