THE WATCHER

nephilim56 ( Norman Dickson)

Within a moment
Trapped in time
I saw an angel weep
From starry eyes
Golden were
The tears to fall
Downward steep
An unanswered call.

The heavy wings
Hung so low
Defeated broken
White as snow
Marbled hands
Clenched in prayer
The isolation
Cold and bare.

To the watcher
A poet alone
Sorrowed brow
Without a home
Two lost souls
Each wave of pain
Both unaware
They were the same.

A lovely write that makes sense of the first part of the poem by tying it to the last. Nicely resolved. Well done

The watchfulness of poets and poetry make them angelic in their process and function. Most striking thesis put forward.

The angel and the poet mirror each other beautifully here—two wounded souls carrying isolation without realizing they’re sharing the same damn pain. The golden tears and broken white wings give it a haunting visual weight, while the ending quietly brings the whole thing home.

Norman, this really moved me. Two figures carrying the same sorrow while neither recognizes themselves in the other…that’s beautifully tragic, my friend. Powerful write! 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛
