Good one . With me it's : There, Their , and They.
Yeh I have sometimes the same difficulty. particularly when I've mislaid my glasses and my spellchecker has gone into dirty tricks mode.
And I have to use their and they more often as everyone becomes degendered.
Life don't get any easier, do it?😂
Dave, can we pin this above every comment box on the internet? LOL! 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛ I think we ought two! 🤣
I would have TO patent it first and then find a wealthy sponsor TOO......... Thank you for your two two generous offer, Tristan.👍👍
We Write words on the paper in the Right way to show people that Rite that will come their way.
Andy
Hear Hear, Andy.
And while we are here, those to whom it might concern should note the the letter order of 'Hear Hear' also...
Sir Orchi NS is confused between 'what' and 'wot', and he asks 'What is "I woz 'ere"? lol,
Over the years I have noted that confusion is a feature of many interactions with which you are engaged, orchi. I have an ongoing hypothesis that this for you is a comfortable position to be in. Do not fight it. go with it.
Yes! I could never have been knighted as SIR Orchi NS otherwise! lol. They may call me 'Sir' and kiss my boots.
I anticipate a large statue to commemorate my efforts to raise your status to the point where you are a power in the land (of MPS).
I'm a confused laddie! Is it to, too, two, or even three?! lol.
Three statues will do. Many thanks orchi.
This is why birds succeeds out there, their, they're.
The English language I'm sure, is there to bloody irritate people, and it does.
We moan about it, pity the poor foreigners writing it, or righting it. lol
Yes - the gratitude I feel for being a native speaker in this time and place is without measure. If I'd been a bloody foreigner, I don't think I would have made it.
There is nothing rational about the spelling at all. And all because of its ancestry - a mongrel of a thing.
Most of the English language is borrowed off other countries. that and other stuff we borrowed that we're now being forced to give back.
Precicely. Here in Oz the ABC (Public Broadcaster) does a several season series titled 'Stuff the British Stole' and believe me, the loot is vastly more than just the Elgin Marbles... You may be able to access it over there via some platform or other.
We don't like that word, ''Stolen''. We prefer, permanently borrowed.
Sensitive lot, ain't yer?
We mug you with kindness.
Dave you have just opened a door to a most important area. I love this write it is short, to the point, has rhyme and is instructive. More important it is applicable to poetry where emotion and thought is expressed in words. If one uses the wrong words the meaning is not conveyed and the mechanism breaks down. A fave my friend
I'm not too sure your point applies to the words I've victimised here Soren, but I very much take on your argument. Every word has its own set of connotations attached to it and its usage is context dependent. Especially important in poetry where the form is (generally) short and there is no place for correction or modifcation further on. Thanks Mate.
Hello, Dave,
With me it's lose and loose and to make matters even worse, we have Toulouse Lautrec, getting back to your to, two and too, that said, it's a very nice little poem and well put.
Fond regards,
Tony.
Think I would give it up if I was ever invited to chat about TL.
Wasn’t he that French geezer who splashed the oils around and loved the ladies a little too much for that day and age? At least he was probably safe from the English disease, as the French have a vastly superior attitude with respect to their own language and tend to guard its purity in a similar way the Germans guard their beer.
But above all, Tony please desist from judgement of my work as ‘a very nice little poem’. You will ruin my reputation. I do believe this is a first offense, so I’m letting you off….. and so on.
Regards Dave.
I get this and confess here n now there aint much else that gets me going quite like the issue that underpins this here post .. Although, there & their is another .. so there 😎👍
I'm really not quite sure why I should be so vexed over this... but I am. Got a few poets going here, and now I feel a little abashed (but not much) that I should have inflicted it on them if they were happy before...
Hi Dave,
I get that some people can leave the odd typo but to simply not know or regularly use the wrong one can be annoying. The same with 'their' and 'there' and many others.
- Syd 🍄
Thanks for that, Syd. I do admit to some irritation, otherwise I wouldn't be here. But I'm going to try more self control in future...
Great to hear from you again.
That’s too too much 😂enjoyed the play of words
That's what poetry is all about - I (sometimes) try to have a little fun with it...
How's the weather in Mumbai?
So now we discuss the weather 🤔in Mumbai it’s a Hot, hotter , hottest October- when and whether it will improve is a matter of time 🤔hope you’re enjoying the climate on your side.
Surviving and waiting as summer approaches...
We have radio and TV stations with local or national focus, and we have SBS which covers the world (such as it is). Sometimes I miss it, as I get wrapped in more local issues. So I thought no harm in asking when passing, get the real story from someone in other parts…😜
and here i was thinking you are planning a trip to this part of the world, hence getting your facts together..lol..in case you ever feel upto it, you are always welcome !!!
No, flying days are well and truly over I'm afraid. At times I'm more than likely to miss the bus.
Doesn't mean your invitation did not warm me.
Take care.
that's sad - however the invitation is for you and your partner if you decide to change your mind at any time in the future...take care, and have a peaceful weekend
Certaainly will do!
Excellent. Love the help...way too much. lol
Not sure I\'m helping much, but I was always advised long ago in the days of my youth to do the best I could, and noone should ask more of me than that... la la laaaaaala.
Thanks for your non judgemental support, Thomas.
I like it TOO, but it is TWO lines TOO short to enjoy it the way I would like TO. LoL
I thank ye for the trouble you took TO respond, but would hope you coud have found some satisfaction TOO.
